A good-quality rug pad makes such a difference. We have a carpet runner in the hallway between our bedrooms and the kids are constantly running through there. I was always finding the rug either balled up or pushed up against the wall from them. I put a really good non-slip rug pad under it and that thing barely moves any more!

I had a dark drab hallway and didn’t know what to do with it. I tried artwork on the walls, but that wasn’t’ enough. I finally found a short floor runner rug and that did the trick. It really brightens up the space.

Finally finished our deck and I bought some cute seat cushions to go with my patio set and am now looking for a coordinating outdoor rug. The seat cushions are made from fabric that doesn’t fade or get ruined being outside. I’m hoping to find a rug that’s similar but am a little worried since it’ll have to handle a good amount of wear and tear too. Time to do a little research, I guess!

Rugs bring character to your home. Yes, they can warm the cold slab as well, but the stately home with the warm tones of Persia, or the modern pad with shag - each are better for the rug. If it’s the Persian or Oriental rugs you desire, the process is, to say the least – confusing. The right rug will hold it’s value – but there are many variables that affect this. Hand tied, vegetable died, knots per square inch, tribal vs city, country of origin, wear, pattern, color… at the end of the day buy what you really like. But beware of the “out of business sales, and huge discounts you see. The starting price was just that much higher. With more modern rugs, the price usually stands. But, they can be exquisite.
