This year we are dedicated to making more of our own decor items instead of buying them. We are going to start off with a fairly easy project by adding new sheer curtains to the windows in our guest bedroom. Now we just have to decide from a million cool patterns that will make the room look very contemporary and classic.

Yes it is summer now, however we live in Minnesota and are planning ahead for the cold winter. Our home office is almost done and we need new window shades and I'm looking for options that will help insulate the window. I really like the honeycomb style that creates an air pocket within the shade. Does anyone know if that is a better insulator than solid wood shades?

We are updating the drapery in our bedroom with a more contemporary look. I think I've been lost in hardware all day! I have found some nice designs with classic lines and even a bit of art deco coolness.

There are many decisions to make when considering draperies. Obviously choosing the right fabric and it’s pattern, color, material, and weight is critical. But there are many other details. Will you want an exposed rod or a valance? A closing system or just pulls? Lined or unlined? Panels or custom sized? Underlying shades, blinds or sheer? Tiebacks? Draperies are an important investment for your home. If you’re careful with style, you can expect to see 20 years of use.
