I want to add a little color to my master bedroom by bringing out the rusty red in throw pillows and accessories. For a more shabby chic, vintage feel, I would like to switch out the light fixture for a chandelier and add more accessories like the vintage inspired clock.

Time is money and these clocks in my updated home office will help keep my creative mind flowing. The one set off the wall would look great in the hallway outside my office. The gears clock will be a conversation starter.

An unusual and interesting long case clock from the 18th and 19th centuries is the Swedish Mora Clock. Hand painted and with a primitive movement, it is estimated that over 50,000 of these were made. Highly collectable, they are most definitely the centerpiece of a room and go particularly well with other country style furnishings. There are a great variety of cases as the clocks were commonly sold separate of the case. Farmers in the village often specialized in the making of just a single component of the clocks where their manufacture often kept the inhabitants alive during poor years of farming. Their curvilinear shape and rounded head piece are common features. “Mora” is an area in Sweden where these clocks originated.
